Problem

Large B2B education institutions like Cruzeiro do Sul and Estácio struggled with outdated processes: creating a single online course required weeks of collaboration between designers, teachers, and developers. Costs ballooned, educators lacked control, and scaling programs felt impossible. I saw an opportunity to transform this fragmented system.

Content creation tool

Creating content totally customizable.

Objectives

I led the design of Liviu, a SaaS platform that empowered educators to build courses independently. Our goal was bold: replace expensive, slow workflows with intuitive tools, reduce costs, and let teachers focus on innovation—not administrative hurdles.

Listening to Users

My team and I conducted 30+ interviews and analyzed workflows. Key insights emerged: educators craved simplicity and customization, while institutions needed scalability. We prioritized a drag-and-drop editor, pre-built templates, and Moodle compatibility to address these needs.

All components were made by teachers and automatically created on a doc page.

Designing for Human Empowerment

I spearheaded design sprints, mapping user journeys to streamline course creation from weeks to hours. Early wireframes focused on a drag-and-drop interface with real-time previews—tools that let educators assemble multimedia lessons without coding.

The core feature of the tool was to enable and empower teachers to make their own materials, in their own way. This was the #1 priority since day one.

Teachers could also create questionnaires and avaliations integrated with Moodle's CMS.

Testing & Iterating

Usability testing revealed critical wins: 80% of educators mastered the editor in one session. We iterated 20+ times, refining features like customizable branding blocks and error-free SCORM exports. My modular design system ensured consistency while accelerating development.

Users could manage their plans based on their needs.

Launching

The final product included a dashboard for tracking progress, a template library for speed, and mobile optimization for on-the-go edits. Accessibility-first components, like color-coded progress indicators and dyslexia-friendly fonts, ensured inclusivity. I collaborated closely with developers to ensure seamless integration with institutional ecosystems like Moodle, a storage platform (we also built an internal one and managed to save $10K anually), and a content streaming, personalized for universities.

This is the internal storage system we've built to reduce costs and keeping everything in-house.

Quantifiable Impact

Liviu slashed content creation time by 41%, saving institutions $300K+ annually. Partner schools tripled course offerings within a year. Teachers praised the freedom to experiment—like crafting interactive quizzes tailored to diverse learning styles.

The Human Effect

Beyond metrics, Liviu redefined educators’ roles. One teacher shared, “I finally feel creative, not just bureaucratic.” Institutions reported higher retention as trust in their digital programs grew.

At later stages, we've built a feature for importing content and allowing them to transform into component they've built before.

Learnings

Balancing simplicity with flexibility was challenging. Early feedback taught me to prioritize intuitive interfaces over feature overload. Cross-functional collaboration—weekly syncs with developers—kept the project aligned and agile.

How future looks like

Today, Liviu’s roadmap includes AI-driven content suggestions and gamification. But its core success remains: proving that empowering educators with the right tools transforms education. I’m proud to have led this journey from concept to industry-changing reality.

This one was only at prototyping stage: teachers could create an adaptive learning flow, with if;else conditionals and personalize their content's order.
